internet not working

i just reformated my computer and now the internet doesn't work. that computer and the computer i'm using right now are connected to a linksys router. they were both working fine before i reformatted and now the only this one works. this one has windows 2000 and the other has xp. any idea how to fix this? thanks.

Are you getting an ip address from your linksys router? DNS? Default gateway?

all the fields are blank in the support tab of the connection status bar.

1) were they blank before?

2) if not, go to start>run and type 'cmd'


3) in the black screen, type "ipconfig /release"

3)type "ipconfig /renew"
