I just got back from college, and my mom had cable internet hooked up while I was away. My question is, how can I hook up my pc to the internet using her modem. I know I can buy a router but I know there is a way to just switch cables from pc to pc. It is NOT a big deal that we wont be able to be on the internet simultaneously, she rarely gets on the internet.

thanks,
Craig

You could just unplug the cable from one computer to another, or you could share the internet through one of the computers so you can be both on the net at the same time. OR as you said you could get a router..

(i would get a router, it will save alot of hassle in the long run)

you would need another network interface card, and another piece of ethernet cable, but they are both very very cheap.
