I know it's next to impossible to moderate a message board that big but I guess that's what happens when no one is overlooking with what's going on. Why can't a person go there to get a little more insight on a movie without all the bs on there?

Yea I dread reading the forums at the bottom of the movie page. But sometimes I sift through and find the answers I am looking for and get a chuckle while I'm at it. Never will I post something.

IMDb is actually worse than Youtube. At least on Youtube, you know it's all the 12-year-olds talking smack just because it's the Internet and you are expected to sound like a rude little c***.

IMDb has an entirely different bunch of older, rude and elitist wannabe-Eberts. It's almost as bad as the LiveLeak/Break audience.

The people on the forums may be asshats but the site itself is simply the best.

I dont think on imdb people are trying to be asshats as much as either being too stupid to understand a movie or simply not liking the movie.

Quite a bit though just play devil's advocate on every hot new film.

This is what bothers me about IMDb - some random dude doesn't like a particular movie. Fine, I can live with that. But look at the person's post history and you find that they have been posting on that movie's boards for literally MONTHS.

Why would you flame people and go on about how much a movie sucks - for months? I post not-so-flattering things about bad movies on IMDb all the time. It's usually something like:

"Hey everyone, I just saw this movie. I agree with all the people here - save your money. Don't buy a ticket. Watch it on TV if you ever come across it while flipping channels."

I don't spend weeks/months going on and on about how much a movie sucks. It's these annoying people that degrade the IMDb message boards.

The RottenTomatoes boards are exactly the same - a bunch of whiny elitists that can't understand why some low budget artsy flick about emo angst isn't everybody's all-time favorite movie.

Yup, you are best using the Internet Movie Database as a database and not a forum.

Yep, I cant stand how everyone puts artsy movies on a pedestal and every blockbuster is automatic shit even before its made

Its like those black metal elitists "oh no, my favourite band sold more than 500 copies, they sold out!!!"

Gimme a break

This is the exact kind of review there that is worthless as everyone posts that kind of thing whether they actually saw it or not.

If one finds the need to post at least they should offer their own thoughts.

Seriously, what further input can I offer on why I thought The Reaping/Perfect Stranger sucked? I will offer my own input if I start my own thread. There is almost always someone who has posted what I would have said myself and I will just reply to that dude.

I just hate how every movie sucks because its not some Oscar wining movie that has a 400 million dollar budget. They have no appreciation of movies that aren't that great.

THANK YOU! Now, convince the rest of this forum to use it instead of Rotten Tomatoes and I'll nominate you for Elite.

ummm I think you are stating the exact opposite of what IMDb is like. All movies that won oscars and have a 400 million dollar budget are garbage to them and only the 'true' pieces of art with small budgets and unknown actors are worth anything. Of course that only counts as long as the actor stays small time. If they make it big then they automatically have to start hating that actor.

exactly.

What you usually get on imdb is:

1) pages of threads that either the movie sucked or was great. Then tons of replies to each with comments like 'waste of $9.50", "not even worth the rental", "I agree", "best movie evar", etc. No one bothers to comment why. It's all fan boy or not.

2) some guy going way off on a tangent how the movie (no matter how different it is) is a rip off of another movie.

3) trolls just stirring the pot.

Every once in a while you score a good review. One that even if they did not like the movie covers the good and bad.

Just replying in a thread that you agree or not just feeds the fire.
