I need suggestions on internet monitoring\ access control for our family computer. I need control over\ monitoring of IM, Email, Myspace, etc. I have young children who are "stumbling" across people and things that they should not be exposed to at their age.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Windows Vista Home, Home Premium and Ultimate have Parental Controls features. Release date in stores is Jan. 30th. I haven't tried it, but I'd bet it's got what you want. more info at Microsoft's site.

Setting them up as non-Admin users on Vista would also make spyware/adware a non-problem too. You can also do so on WinXP: info on Limited accounts and if you have XP Professional Edition, you might as well go the whole way and add a Software Restriction Policy too, it only takes a minute more.

Although lots of people hate Norton, I've used Norton Internet Security for years and find that its parental controls work well for us.
