internet messed up

Hi, begging for help! not computer savvy! just had to send my laptop out for a new hard drive this week, and now, when I brought it home, it is only connecting to our wireless internet with "limited" connectivity. i.e. can't go online. I have tried everything I can, i.e. restarting computer, shutting down cable modem for ten minutes and then turning back on, etc. I know it is just a simple problem, probably an option not "turned on" after the new hard drive was installed. I brought it back to the place that fixed it and it logged on to their wireless internet no problem. HELP!

Sounds like you need to reset the router and/or modem. Just unplug them both for a few seconds then plug them back in and things should be fine.

Are you using WEP or some security on your router?

If so, you will have to re-enter the key.

Uh... I remember I had this problem. I think I fixed it by going into the properties of the network card and turning off the authentication or something. I'll take a look at this when I get home and post back with more specific instructions.

Limited or no connectivity means that you typed in the wrong security key for your router. Make certain you know what the security key is for your router. It should be a 10 digit number usually.
