internet keeps partially disconnecting at night

almost every night, my internet partially disconnects so that i can still use programs such as AIM and MSN messenger, but i cant load any webpages or play any online games. i cant make a new connection to any webpages, but i can still do whatever with whats already running. i know this info doesnt help that much, but can anyone tell me whats wrong?

Hmm. Who is your provider? Is it cable, DSL, or other?

its cable from Adelphia, i dont think its them though. there are three other computers on my network and only mine is the one that disconnects. about a month ago my brother had the same problem for about 3 days then it went away. about a day later it started to happen to me. we havent switched ports either and this has been going on for a couple weeks now

Try updating NIC drivers if there are any? You can also toggle speed duplex settings (generally should be kept at auto for both) on the NIC itself.

Does it happen around the same time or is it random? If you disconnect from AIM during that period of no service, can you sign back on?

i dont disconnect from AIM at all actually. ill try updating my nic drivers and tell you if it works. it usually happens around between 8pm-2am.
sometimes if i start big torrent download itll disconnect too

well so far so good. i updated my nic drivers yesterday and it hasnt disconnected yet. thanks for the help, ill post here again if it starts up.
