Internet isn't connecting...

Well, I got on my computer today, and nothing has loaded that uses the internet. AIM, Opera, Ad-Aware updates, none of it has worked. First of all, I checked to make sure that the cable that ran from my computer to the router was secure, and it was. Nothing worked, still. I then suspected that maybe my ethernet drivers had maybe been corrupted, so I reinstalled them. Same problems, still. (If it's of any relevance, I have an Asus A8N5X mobo with nForce 4 chipset). I also check for spyware. No luck.

So then, could anyone maybe help identify, and possibly solve my problem? If you need any more information, I'll be around. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just tried connecting in Safe Mode (With network on and off, just to be safe.) It didn't help.
 
Have you tried to power cycle the modem and router? Every once in a while my laptop would not connect, and sure enough, power cycling would work for me. It's worth an easy try.
 
hi ..................just a quick question! does it show you as synced/connected but you cant load any sites/downloads.......or is there total loss of sync!
