I have noticed that the internet seems to be more flakey than usual. Is this my imagination or what? At work I blame it on filtering software and I home I blame it on crappy ISP. Do you think that it is because of this explosion of online streaming of video content that eats up bandwidth and the ISP's can't keep up or what? One minute everything is working fine the next minute it has stopped. It also seems that some websights have problems and others don't.

I think outages are a bit more common than in the past. I know my home connection has been really off and on this month with everything from dns server failures to no connection at all. Typically it was from upgrades in the network, repairs they were doing.

I think as the internet gets older that it could very well continue to get worse as companies cut cost and older hardware quits working. The 'we will replace it when it fails' mentality.

My guess would be that the combo of Holidays shopping and Shopping related Spam is clogging every thing.

Some sites I noticed a long time ago had the issue. Disabling ads gave a very measurable speedup to those effected sites (but less to less heavy aded sites).

FiOS at home is great, very fast and reliable (had a complete loss of internet connectivity for an evening, and that's it in the past 5 years).

Most problems I see with websites come from ads as mentioned by others, which can slow down the loading time of the whole page.

Its just NSA upgrading their tracking and monitoring systems, so don't worry, its for your own good.

No systemic problem with the "Internet" as a whole exists right now. You may have some regional issues, but overall - for me - and my customers, and other folks I know - no problem.

No issue for me. The only one is in my own home network, as the router needs to reboot daily or so. It may just be your ISP's infrastructure.
