Internet going weird...

I have Comcast. Recently, past few days, it started going really slow... Web pages would either load normally or not at all or very-very slowly. I started playing games and I would start lagging really bad. I can't host games anymore because of it. It would be all good then it would lag again. I don't know what it is... I would call my ISP but I don't pay the bills so I can't call them. >_< If my parents paid for the internet I would, but since me and my parents don't, I cannot call them. (My brother and SIL do) What do I do?

It's REALLY annoying. I can't play games online or surf the web normally.

They are [insert hurtful word]. If something isn't going terribly wrong for them then they assume nothing is wrong. -_-

Ugh. Anyway to diagnose this myself?

Even IF you do find something wrong, you still have to talk to them... so just get it over with now.

Try Ping -t to your local router that goes out to the internet.
Try Ping -t to your ISP's Local Router. (You can likely Grab this from your Home Routers Setup DHCP Page.)

This will tell you if you are dropping in your house or getting to the local router or if there are big delays.

Then you could try tests to the different sites you are hitting.
There could be an issue somewhere along the routing path from you to where you are trying to get.

Looks like there is an issue between Your Router and your ISPs Router.

You could try swapping the Patch Cable Going to your Cable Modem.
Try a differnt Wall Outlet or cable from the Wall to your Cable Modem.

You may also want to test differnt times of day.
It could be that there is just a general problem certain times of day where there is just too much traffic for the cable lines in your neighborhood to handle.
(I've suffered with that at one place.)

If different times of day ( Especially early morning) are failing then you likely have a physical issue someplace that is not your PC.

I would put it on high traffic times. With cable services...everyone is on the same trunk around your area. If people are all surfing the net, and streaming on-demand movies, that all comes over the same line.

Like stated above, switch the location of the router and the cable between the router and modem. Power cycle the devices also may help.

I have the same problem during the last few days.

Called my ISP who did the regular Song and Dance blaming my Network.

I asked few people around and found that they have the same problem.

Called the ISP again, and they finally admitted that there is problem in my area and said that by tomorrow it should be OK.

Mean time my 8Mb/sec. connection works at .7Mb/sec. and it is losing its sync evrey 30 minutes.

I am not saying that that is definitely your problem but it is One of the Options.

Finally got to get on AT. It's been down/not working all day today. I tried it at around 11:00AM and it was just not working at all. It would sometimes load webpages but no images or CSS.

I would call Comcast if I could, but I can't... because it isn't my internet. Ugh, luckily I will be able to resolve any issues when we move into our own home :) Frustrating... Whatever, I may call them tomorrow. I still have some Whose Line Is It Anyway TV shows to blaze through... Been doing that and watching Taken all day. :) (Little Mirrors Edge too)

I MIGHT try the different jack thing, but there isn't another place to put the router/modem shit because they have it setup like they want. This hasn't happened until recently, and high-traffic shouldn't mean that I get NO INTERNET AT ALL! :|

I will probably power cycle the crap when it stops working again. I'll turn off the internet for about 30-45 minutes, if I can last, and hopefully get a new IP that'll make me lucky.
