Internet glory years

all the free stuff you could get on the internet from 1999-2001?

I remember doing this website called jaboom where you rated music and earned gift certificates to Amazon. I was making $15 every couple of days. If I opened multiple accounts, I could have been raking in the dough.

Beenz. It was an online currency. You visited websites every day and you would get beenz where you exchanged them for gift certificates to a bunch of different places. Earned a 2-3k of amazon gift certificates over the course of its existence.

Rocketcash. It was similar to beenz. Earned hundreds off that.

The paid2surf websites. Never actually did that.

Websites like mobsquad.com offering digital cameras very cheap.

800.com offering 3 dvds for $1 with no catch back in 1999 when I got my first dvd player.

All the free t-shirts/accessories tech companiese were giving away.

I was just out of high school at the time and didn't really have a job so I would go to school and come home and do this stuff all day.

alladvantage.com
I made over $40 before they finally went bankrupt. Then there was free dialup internet. I went a year without paying for internet.

then came the adware/spyware 🙁

oh, and don't forget the surge of wierd online trends like AYB, those wierd flash animations w/ japanese music in the background, etc etc..

alladvantage.com was great. my friend did all the work on cheating the system and I got like $60 check in mail. that was it before they went bankrupt.

I remember reading about someone literally living off alladvantage because he had so many people signed up under him. It was like a pyramid scheme.

WAREZ OUT THE WAZOOO!

There is so so much more warez now, it's easier to get, and at higher speeds too.

i liked it better when my $5000 stock account went to $150k.

Found an old yahoo portfolio I had from 8 years ago. It was some investment game where you had a fictional 100k and it was down to 8k. Thankfully it wasn't real money.

omg, yeah.
uh, those glory days are now
Uh, no they are not.
But i'm glad you didnt use the roll eyes cuz that would tick me off.

I am tempted to go into my knowledge of actual warez sites since so many people here think they know what they are.
But in doing so I may leave myself open to getting crushed by a mod.
I'll play it safe.

LOL...I remember free Dialup...ahh Global Freeway....it worked for a few months...and then they went bankrupt....I suppose if anybody had of actually both to use the software that was required for all of the ad crap that was supposed to generate money for the ISP then they might of made some money...

All the free and cheap stuff.

Remember reel.com, bigstar.com bigstardvd.com and more?

They had coupons left and right, didnt care how often you used them...I remember getting dvds everyday for a year in the mail.

800.com's three for a buck deal started it for me.

Did anyone else hear get in on Troma's 25 cent DVD Deal?

Those days are LONG gone.

The interweb is just not the same.

www.cyberrebate.com before it went under. I got a ton of stuff when the before rebate prices were 4X the normal price. I quit when it went to 10x the normal price, so luckily I didn't get hit with unpaid rebates.

Let's also remember the plight of the WMC's. Their horrible treatment by Buy.com changed the way our credit cards are supposedly charged for goods online, now.

Also, remember places like ValueAmerica, which had coupons that would stack and stack and stack.......getting you goods almost for free.

back when gas was a buck 50?

ah......

and when i actually shopped at places like buy.com cuz of all the freebies
got so many useless things from sites trying to buy customers.
also got in on a 350 dollar video card from best buy thanks to microsofts/aol internet dealy thing. think it was 400 dollars free stuff for just signing up🙂 most people just canceled the service after getting their stuff. it was chaos once it got out that you could lol🙂
