Internet File Sharing

I'd like to be able to share large files with other people over the Internet. I could run an FTP server on my computer, but that's against the rules of Excite@Home(my cable modem ISP). I could use one of those Internet disk space sites like FreeDiskspace.com, but they tend to be very slow and unreliable. I've thought about buying an FTP account with about 500MB+ of space from a web hosting company. Can anybody give me a suggestion?
 
Many shell companies sell space to users, not sure what type of files you want to share but they do limit users d/ls. They tend to be around 5-100 dollars.
