Internet Explorer version 7.0.5730.11 problems

Lately my IE7 has been taking a long time to shut down. If I click the X in the upper right hand corner, it takes the screen about 25 seconds to shut down and I can hear the HD clicking away. Other than that the computer runs great and this has just started a couple of weeks ago. It seems that it happens mostly if more than 1 window is open. I mainly use Firefox but it is really annoying when I use IE7.

I use the most current Zone Alarm Suite as Firewall and AV, version 7.0.408.

I have no malware, virus, trojan, etc that I am aware of. I run XP Pro on home built machine.

Would appreciate nay suggestions that might be causing this.
Thanks
