Internet Explorer stops accessing forums

A couple days ago and again currently, Internet Explorer (Windows 7 64-bit) stops being able to load any forum pages.

I can go to anandtech.com, and the forum button gets 'Internet Explorer cannot display this page.' If I reload, it gets "400 bad request". No other sites are having problems.

I thought the forums were just having extended crashes until I tried Google Chrome, which loaded the forum no problem.

Sorry you're having a problem. Don't know what gives as I am using win 7 64bit and IE without any such hiccups.

Clear your cache on the browser and DNS (reboot machine), the IP address of the forums webservers changed with the recent move over to cloud.

I am running IE8 on a XP machine at work and I can see the top bar of the forums that has my user name, but just empty space below it. I tried what was mentioned and it did not help. Since this is a work machine it is locked down.

Any ideas on how I can get the forums working again?

There is no fix to it, unless you do the following:

- Send a support ticket requesting Mozilla Firefox to be installed so you can browse anandtech forum.😀

I have exactly same problem on multiple Win7 64bit PCs.

I'm not really sure what to tell you guys. There's nothing special about the forums; the codebase hasn't changed in years. Wipe your cache and cookies, and try again.

It now works again - and I didnt make any change, restart etc. 😕

Still no luck, tried today at lunch.

Did something change? I didn't restart my laptop. I can connect to the forum fine now using my IE8. I wasn't able to last week, consistently.

There is a thing called "Things get fixed by itself"

EDIT: Naw, the problem came back up. You get an exclamation mark on the status bar on the browser and displays no content when accessing the forum. Lemme restart the laptop (I cleeared the cache the other day already) and see if that makes difference. Astalabista baby 😉

Cleared all files in Temporary Internet Files.
Cleared the DNS.
Reset the IE8.
Rebooted the computer.

Still exact same problem...

Anandtech system admins, please check your end... there are many of us that can't connect to it with IE.

Just to note, IE7 worked fine, but that was like a week and half ago. Don't know if this was coincidence.

Mozilla Firefox works fine. No problem browsing anandtech forum.

Oh and this is on WinXP laptop.

FIXED.


It needed the IE browser security updates. Simply by installing full Windows updates. Turned out it wasn't fully updated.

I can browse anandtech forums flawlessly now.


Guys / girls, if you have similar problem try my method. If you don't have rights to install updates have your I.T. update it. Send a support request lol...
