Internet Explorer problems...

(Sorry for cross-posting in software... :confused😉

I've been having this problem for a long time.

When using IE (6.0), every once in a while I will click on a link and it will take me to a page that is not at all what I clicked on. (e.g. I will click on the "profile" link above, and I'll get sent to http://www.AcidPlanet.com .) If I hit refresh, sometimes it will go to the right place, sometimes it will do the same thing.

Then, SOMETIMES, when it's at the wrong page, it will not be able to load the pictures on the wrongly linked page, because it will be combining the 2 addresses. (e.g. AcidPlanet will not display any pictures, just showing the boxes with the red X in them. When you right click on the picture and check it's properties, it will say http://www.Anandtech.com/AcidTitle.jpg or whatever the title of the picture is, but looking for it at the original address I was seeking.)

Does what I'm trying to explain make sense?

Anyone have any experience with this? It's REALLY annoying.

Oh - it also does this on both Windows 98 and Windows 2000 on my dual boot system. I've scanned for viruses several times without any results.

Sounds like you have some kind of spyware or virus. Run AdAware and a virus scanner with the latest definitions for both.

Well, I'm running Ad-Aware, which I haven't done (with a new sig file) for a while. I have PC-Cillin running all the time and just scanned today, with no results, but maybe I'll try a different virus scanner?

I've heard mixed things about Pc-Cillin, but it was free with my mobo, so...

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
