Internet Explorer often locks up while viewing pictures online

Hello, wondering if you can help me.
I am often getting lock up and "not responding" error that requires cntr/alt/del solution. Most often happens while looking at pictures in Facebook, or trying to watch multiple windows or embedded videos and such. Didn't do this before. Only idea I have is that I am currently down to 2gb DDR2, due to dead stick.
Any ideas?

Just my personal experience but I gave up trying to figure out how to get that POS to work right, a long time ago. Switched to Firefox and never looked back. I can have 15 tabs open, and watch streaming video, on just one GB of RAM.

Went down teh rabbit hole and found the answer. Update failed to tell me about the last 2 massive service packs. Solved all the problems.
