Internet Explorer keeps crashing, any advice?

I keep getting this message about once a day in internet explorer:

"Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0000979d."

I have seen this problem when the system is overclocked too far and the CPU or RAM are overheating. I'm not sure why IE gets the error and other applications don't, but almost invariably lowering the clock speed a little (or improving cooling in the system) has resolved the issue when I have come across it.

First, you need to elminate malware and viruses. Post a hijackthis log for us.

I've seen this too, also just due to ocing, no heat, cpu just can't operate correctly under load.

Thank you for the posts guys, I'm actually really confused. Right now I've got a POS emachines that is not doing anything special. So I really don't see how it could be overclocking or heat, although, this it is a POS.

emachines T3256 It has an AMD XP 3200+
