Internet Explorer is acting flakey (big supprise?!)

Here's the situation:
WinXP SP2, and iExplorer w/ all the latest updates. Most of the time it works fine (browsing the web), but if the computer has been on for more than about 20 mins iExplorer will start randomly choosing which pages IT wants to load up. If I reboot the machine it will work fine. example: I will be surfing the web just fine, get up to go have lunch and come back and now I cant browse some of the pages I was just looking at (google being one of them). It dosn't go down all together, I can view some pages just fine but others wont load up (cannot find server), but like I said if I reboot everything works just fine for a little while. Now I know it isnt my internet connection or the servers themselves because I can get on annother computer on my network and all pages load up just fine. Spybot, adaware and virus scans all come up negetive. Any insights would help. This isnt a major problem but it is a major annoyance having to reboot all the time.
Sorry this is hard to read, but it was hard to describe and put all my thoughts down coherently.

Run winsockxp fix and install firefox, problem solved!

well i tried firefox. it is nice but it didnt fix the problem. so i tried winsockipfix. the internet seems to be working but now i cannot see any of the computers on my local network and when i try to repair the network connection it gives me an error that it cant renew the ip address and that the RPC server isnt available. (what is RPC anyway i thought i used DHCP)

any further suggestions?

and i just found out that winsockipfix corrupted my audio drivers (now i'd like to know how that happened?)

ok i reinstalled my motherboard drivers and the sound works again, but i still cant see other computers on my network. any suggestions?

nevermind my audio drivers still arn't working!!!!
