Internet Explorer Hangs When New Window Opened

I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE7). Frequently when I open a window, it hangs for about ten seconds before I can enter a URL or any text input. Otherwise it works perfetly fine. Please don't tell me to use Firefox or some other browser as I have my reasons for using IE7.

Have you done the requisite malware scans?

Does it still take 10secs if you run it with addons disabled (iexplore.exe -extoff)?

Some people have to use corporate intranets or other business related sites with active content, etc, which will only work with certian versions of some browsers. I know for a fact some MLS real estate listing database webapps require IE.
