Internet Explorer Error

I am having a lot of trouble with Internet Explorer 6.0. I keep getting an error message saying: The instruction at "0x0157d43d" referenced memory at "0x2f7a6e2e". The memory could not be "read". Quite often when I?m loading any page, like Amazon.com, I find that all the images won?t load and come up as boxes with red crosses inside. While the page that has the problem is open, I?ve checked Task Manager and have found IE is suddenly using around 50% of my 2.8ghz cpu. When a web page becomes like this, with images not loading, I find that I cannot load any other pages in favourites (or any web address I type in), until I close the browser (which causes the error message) and open a new one. I have cleared Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and have run Spybot, Adaware, CWShredder and Norton Anitvirus full system scan. I have even tried an in-place reinstallation of Windows XP. Other people have had this error before, but they usually have the option to press ok to terminate the program, or cancel to debug. I can only press cancel to close the error box. I find the browser stops working all the time, making browsing very difficult. I would appreciate any help.

System Specs:
Pentium 4 2.8GHz
1024MB ram
Windows XP home

Have you tried another browser to see if the problem persists? If so, it may be a hardware issue - memory? If you have 2 sticks of 512MB try removing one and seeing if that cures the problem

I have tried Mozilla 1.7 and did not have the problem. I also tried the computer on 512mb of ram but still had the error come up.

I had this error with Mozilla Firefox0.9.3, but there is an extension you can download for Firefox to fix it.

Can the Firefox extension fix my IE problem? Where on the Mozilla site do I find the extension? I would really like to know as I am getting very frustrated with these errors :|

Another thing I've noticed with this Internet Explorer problem is that words that have an apostrophe in become like this: won't becomes wonâ??t, I've becomes Iâ??ve and I'm becomes Iâ??m. Does anyone know what might cause this?

Some spyware can cause odd errors with IE. I'd say download Ad Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy to see what they find.

I have tried scanning my system 3 times with fully updated versions of Spybot search and destroy and Ad-aware 6, but still hasn't fixed the problem.

Does anyone else know of anything I could do to fix this problem? (apart from reformatting my HD or switching to another browser)

*UPDATE*

I disabled hyperthreading for my P4 2.8 processor and it seemed to fix the problem. What I want to know is why disabling hyperthreading would fix the problem when I had never had that error before on the same computer for many months. Plus - why should I have to disable it? My computer doesn't have the same performance without it. Any help on why this would occur would be appreciated.
