Ok, this one for my wife's PC.
For a long time now, IE has been crashing when scrolling with the mouse wheel. MS Optical USB, with intellipoint 3, 3.1, 3.2. The Microsoft Knowledge Base recognizes this as an issue with old ATI drivers, and offers several workarounds. The problem, though, is that we got rid of her old ATI card months ago; she now has a Viper II (hold your comments). None of the MS workarounds work. They suggested 1. new ATI drivers 2. Adding the line DevBMP=0 to sys.ini and 3. disabling accelerator functions in display\advanced. 2) had no effect. 3) caused horrible graphical problems, so I tried setting the slider to 1 notch over from off (basic functions), but the crashes contiued.
I had hoped that the upgrade to Me would fix this, but alas...
Any ideas? Note that the crashes do not occur at all web sites, or even at specific websites all the time, though some websites have a much higher probability of crashing than others. (Reading any of Ebert's movie reviews, for example, is a pretty good bet for a crash.)
Thanks!
