here's the deal. all of a sudden, my ie will no longer "open link in a new window" it just seems to open up another ie window then freeze there. what gives? this also occurs when i click on hyperlinks that automatically open up a new window, it will open another ie then nothing. driving me nuts here, help 🙁

btw, i'm using win xp pro w/sp 1 and all windows updates are current

just logged onto the "guest" account, same problem. everytime i click on a link that opens up a new window, bam...freeze city.

btw.....i had this problem a few days ago. i reinstalled xp again, not clean install and everything was fine. then today...it begins again 🙁

yup...everything is updated to latest version. i may have to do a clean install later tonite if i can't figure it out. this really bugs.

btw...i did install netscape 7 and it worked fine so i think it's localized to ie. however, i'm not such a big fan of netscape and it does have some trouble with certain msn websites, go figure...lolz

Try doing this, go to start>run, type in "regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\Shdocvw.dll" without the quotes, you will then get a message that the file has been registered, click ok.

You may need to do it with the following files also, try it one at a time, but it beats reinstalling everything: Url.dll, Mshtml.dll, Actxprxy.dll, Oleaut32.dll, Shell32.dll.
