Internet Explorer 6 and "Save Image As"

I'm having this weird problem when I want to save any jpeg images in IE6. When I right click "Save Image As" it displays untitled as the filename and bitmap as the type of image to save as, I can change the name of the file but not the type. I don't have this problem gifs or pngs just jpegs its not just one site either, it's every site that has jpegs including my own!

Try clearing your Temporary Internet Files, then restart IE. Worked for me.

i have that problem sporadically. i haven't figured out how to reproduce it. sometimes if i open a jpg in its own window it will do that.

anyway, a potential workaround would be just to drag the picture onto the desktop or wherever you want to save it. the only drawback is that it saves it as filename[1].jpg and you have to go get rid of all of the [1]s.

That's happened to me several times, but only when I've accidentally clicked "email picture" first. Then when I try to save the image, it comes through as bmp. What I do is close the image window and then open it again.
