So I'm running ZoneAlarm Pro and I get a pop-up ad for Internet Eraser at the following link. The scary thing is it looks as if it took a snapshot of my files (it had my gamespy and dod directories showing so I know it wasn't generic). Question is if I'm running ZoneAlarm how did this happen? IF anybody wants to click and see if it happens for them too I'd appreciate it.

Link to Pop Up Ad that Spied on Me!!!!

What gives!!!

heck, it got past my hardware router.

What bastards. If it is javascript, it will only work if you click on an appropriate link, and they can't manipulate those files can they?

Edit: I can manipulate the files... could someone else? What the f?

yup

</IFRAME>

So does that mean that they don't really see what's in my computer - they're just making it show up? Sorry for my ignorance....

well it's not like they can send back the files or the dir listing... it's only viewable to you afaik.

ah just read your above post, carry on :p

btw, you can manipulate because of IE's integration with explorer shell.

Even if it is only viewable to the person at the site, Mozilla could help newbies from getting too freaked out. :)

Basically its like a window to your computer (figuratively)(just displays the info), the window is shut but the blinds are up. If that make sense to you.
