I recently been noticing internet dropoffs on internet explorer. I have DSL and an extrernal Speedstream modem. About every hour or so I noticed my internet connection shows disconnected, but my dsl light on my modem shows connected and my msn messenger is still working. I called my DSL server and they said they showed no drops in my area. The disconnection only lasts about 10 minutes then reconnects itself. I have a Microsoft wireless network and 2 computers. Second computer internet also does the same thing. I'm at my whits end and cannot find the problem. I have not changed or added anything lately other than added Google tool bar. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. RPD162

Did you try changing the channel on your router?
My laptop would drop its connection about every 10min or so until I selected a new channel?most wireless routers that I know about default on channel 6 try changing it and see if it helps. You could be getting some interference from a 2.4 GHz phone or from another wireless source

Nope didnt work. I changed the channel but still received intermittent drops. Checked my pings and all looked good. Its like a browser problem, seems some websites tie up my computer then says "cannot be found", then few sites work, then none of them work for anywhere from 2 minutes to 10 minutes then everything is fine. Cant figure this out. rpd162

Remove every piece of home network gear from the equeation and go directly into the dsl modem. It'll help eliminate your equipment as the problem.

Ok got into router, everything checks ok. Could it be an issue with my Nvidia nforce MCP network adapter?

I've disconnected my whole wireless network and am just running my Efficient Speedstream 5667 external modem. I still get random drops form internet, even though my modem still is showing connected. I find that it is also strange IE 6 wont let me go into some websites like cnet.com and download.com still dont work. Any ideas?? rpd162
