I've been trying to make my web surfing speeds more consistant. In the process someplace I now have "Internet Connection" connection in my network connections. This is the first time I've noticed it. When I disable it I kills my entire connection. Anyone know how I might have installed this and if I need it? Thanks

Ok, I think I figuard it out. I updated my firmware on my router and when I did I think it added this option for some reason. Under the dynamic routing tab in the router I can switch it to gateway or router. When its on gateway the "internet connection appears under my network connectons. When its on router its not and I can't get any internet access.

Is this something I need to worry about? It has me a tad worried because it says under the properties/settings tab "select the services running on your network that internet users can access." I only have 2 programs checked. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Probably something to do with your firmware upgrade and UPnP. To my knowledge, when Windows figures out it's behind a gateway device, it adds that icon to the Network Connections folder.

I'm not sure about the security settings; I've never messed with them. I just run ZoneAlarm :)

thanks. It seems when use a program like AIM, Yahoo Messenger, bit torrent clients it adds it to the list of "services". Not sure what will happend if I uncheck them, will try later.
