Internet connection sucks!

I m using earthlink narrow band ,56k modem and always got disconnect recently....at least 2 times in an hours.They r goin to raise the service charge now.Is everybody using earthlink have the same prob as mine?I m thinking to shift to cable modem.Any reccomedation?:|

Try a different access number.

Or perhaps it might be your modem? What brand are you using?

cable modem or dsl? or is that the same thing?
dsl... verizon is ok, slightly pricey...

It's not always the isp's fault. Tho you provided no details on your system, some versions of hsp micro modems have a problem with v90 and the result is random disconnects. Turning off v90 and kflex usually fixes that. Sometimes it's your tcp/ip or winsock files, they may have been corrupted. Last but not least, LINE NOISE.

Thanks Dadealus....I'll try it out at home.I change my modem 2 months ago but dunno what's the brand and details coz my bro bought it.I also heard that cable modem is better than dsl.It's totally different between dsl and cable modem.One of my fren got the cable modem from Adelphia and the technical officer show him the speed and compared with the dsl.I m still considering.....
