Internet Connection Sharing

Hi all,

I just trying to work out how to configure this.

I have 2 PC's on a wireless network, I am using a proxy program to share the Internet. I originally tried to use Windows Internet Connection Sharing (Windows XP) but I wasn't sure how to configure it.

Do you enable it on the Comms Device (Alcatel Modem) or the Internet Account (Freeserve) or the Wireless Device?

Do you have to configure both PC's or just the one with the Internet?

Thanks in advance

Mark.

enable it on your freeserve account. then set your other pcs to obtain thier ip address automatically then reboot them ensuring your gateway box ie the one with the freeserve account is started first. as it will act as a DHCP server for the other.

also enusre that once you have enabled it on the freeserve account that you disconnect and reconnect it before rebooting the other machines.

thats all there is to it really. 🙂

Hi again Fuzz,

I just tried enabling ICS on the Freeserve account and got the following message :-

Cannot enable Shared access

Error 1061 - This service cannot accept control messages at this time

Is this Freeserve being annoying and not allowing me to share Internet Access

Cheers

Mark.

nope its not disconect the connection then try again ics is nothing to do with freeserve. to enable auto ip goto the properties of the lan adapter then choose tcp/ip. then make sure that obtain automatically is checked.

Yeah you right Fuzz - The routers over here do cost that - Would solve my problems if I got one?

Thanks

Mark
