I have just created a peer to peer network between my two home pc's. I used the cross over cable and setup the home network. Everything went smoothly. When I check to see if all the sharing functions are worrking, only the internet is inaccessable on the pc where the dsl modem is not installed on. I checked the default gateway pc and sharing is on and the windows firewall has been disabled on both pc's. Could someone please help me as to what to do next? Thanks

1. Buy a router, it's well worth the $20 for a cheapie

2. check you IP's (ipconfig /all) on both, and make sure the second PC is getting a192.168 address.

I'm only using two pc's sp there is no need for a router. I checked the ip's on both and they are getting a 192.168 address. Any other suggestions?

One reason these folks are recomending a router is that ICS is prone to problems and isn't particularly easy to diagnose or support.

the biggest reason isn't ICS problems, but security. Not having a public IP on your machine is just good common sense.

another vote for a router
a router will help you block out most of occasional attack and hackers.
