I have Comcast cable, and a WRT54G. On one of my desktops, connected by ethernet to the router, I get an internet connection problem that can only be solved by a restart. What happens is that I can't go to any websights, and can't ping any websights, but I can ping IP's, and go to IP's. This is while the internet is working fine on other computers on the same network. Any hints?

problem is isolated to 1 pc right? dns seems screwed up for that pc, maybe the hosts file on the pc has changed by spyware so websites you enter goto whatever they want you going to?

is the problem pc xp? when did it start? does it work by dns name for a website while in safemode with networking? is there spyware or viruses, etc. on the pc giving errors or is it really slow, etc.? if you open command prompt (if win xp or 2k) and do "ipconfig /displaydns" does this get become wrong over time after the reboot from "record name" to ip listed in "A (host) record"? does ipconfig /flushdns seem to fix it?

Using XP Pro. It started a few days ago. Haven't tried safemode, will. I haven't experienced any spyware or virus symptoms. Only thing is Opera has been crashing once a day or so, but I'm not sure if that is related. I'll wait for the symptoms to reapear and try /flushdns. I haven't noticed the DNS ip getting funny. I'll check for that. I need to wait for the problem to reappear. Also, the problem seems to show up after many hours of use, I never seem to have a problem right away. I'm gonna check for spyware.
