I have Cox Cable internet. It seems that every time I run a program, typically games that I lose my connection to the internet everytime I close the application. I have to reboot to get it back, this is getting annoying does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

That's kinda vague.

Is the cable connection Ethernet or USB?
What OS are you running?
What games do you run?

Have you applied the latest service packs for both your game and OS?

Other obvious questions, etc etc

Sorry...

Yes it's an ethernet connection to my cable modem.

Running Windows XP all updates and patches applied.

I typically play all types of games fps, simulation, strategy, sports, driving, etc...It doesn't seem to matter what game it is I loose my connection after I close the application. Rebooting seems to help most of the time but not always. Called Cox and they said the signal strength might not be strong enough coming in which is causing me to get bumped, the tech is coming today to check it. To me if it was signal strength it would happen all the time and not typically when I close a game I'm playing?

Cox technician came out today no luck. Tried swapping modem, nic card, cat 5 cable no luck. Double checked mac address, signal strength etc. all correct and good. For some reason it justs won't bring up an ip address, the modem is a motorola 4100 if that makes a difference...Any suggestions? Please help the rebooting to get a connection is getting old fast.
