I keep having a problem where every now and then I won't be able to use any browser on my PC to connect to a site. The network settings show that it's connected, and programs like Steam, Roblox, torrents, etc., keep working and every other device in the house will still work on the network. The only solution I found that seemed to work were some combination of the command line instructions on this page: Microsoft answers
I have basically no knowledge about networks so I don't really know what all those commands mean, but I gather that it has something to do with my firewall settings? Last time, it seemed to do the trick and everything has been good for a month or two. It used to be that this would happen every few days, but in between the browsers would work fine. Then it started happening all of a sudden today again.
I'm connected via Ethernet to my Xfinity router, and other devices connected via Ethernet and wi-fi will keep working. I'm using the built in Windows firewall settings, and if there are any settings or info I can provide, just let me know.
I found some advice about changing settings to things like the DNS server and IPV4 and 6, but not sure if that actually helped or not. I'll post a picture of my settings below. One thing I noticed is that my network is set as public, not private, but I don't know if that is involved in any way.
This is driving me crazy. It just seems to randomly switch from working fine to not being able to connect to any site with any browser. Then, for no apparent reason, after a while in will just start working again. Please help! Thanks!!!
