I've seen numerous advertisements for Net Boosters, but do they actually work?

If so, what would you suggest?

all they do is cache stuff right? so when you go to a site it loads it from your HD instead of the net.

if you are stuck on dial-up and you do a lot of forums, they will load much faster . . . otoh, if you D/L images or apps, there is zero speedup.

Well, browser speed is all I need. Running on 128.8 Cable.

All it does is read ahead the links on the page. Then loads those locally when you click on the link. Doesn't make downloads or anything faster though.

128.8 Cable?!?! I though they had stuff faster than that in London. Man I thought my 8 megabit connection was slow compared to countries like Japan. I guess I shouldn't feel so bad after all.

They do, but cheap parents are in large supplies. I shouldn't be complaining though; I'm not paying for it.

If you have a problem with 8mbit cable you're freakin' spoiled I've had 10mbit for about a year now and I still don't take it for granted.

Spoiled? Nah I'm always looking for more speed. Btw I do pay for my connection.

I wish. The closest I've come was 770KB/sec from a fileplanet server.

Sure it is. Download lots of things at once, or download from a mirror that doesn't suck.
