Internet Access + Win2k Problem..

My cable modem on win2k keeps disconnecting, I checked the event viewer and this is what I get.

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address xxxxxxxxx(took the address out for security reasons). The following error occured:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

I talked to my isp, they said there is nothing wrong on their side and all my friends in the area aren't having this problem. I think I messed something up on my computer. I am using Win2k Pro with an EtherLink III Isa Nic. It disconnects about every 15minutes. I hit ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew and it fixes it. Never had this problem before, just started lastnight.

I searched around on google groups for this. One guy said he fixed it by uninstalling his NIC and reinstalling it as "NE 2000 compatible" instead of using the drivers for his particular NIC.
Also, do you have more than 1 NIC installed on this machine?
Try runnign a search on google groups with some of the messages in your event viewer and see what you come up with.

Does your cable modem use phone line for upstream..IE one way cable? If so check the phone line.. a little static on the line can cause cable modem interupts easily and often. Just attach a phone to the line and see if there is line noise.
