My windows screwed up and I have formatted the hard drive and re-installed windows 98. Now the zip drive locks up and the light stays on when I insert a disk. The mouse and everything freezes. I have to turn the on/off switch off to get the thing to let me eject. Reset alone will not do it.

I'v installed the win98 driver from Iomega (its a NEC drive) and of course the iomega software on the CD that came with the drive.

What should I check in the BIOS to make sure it is reading correctly? The zip is a slave to the CD RW drive and has worked fine for several weeks before the windows re-install.

The docs said that the zip is configured as a slave without any jumpers. The Device Manager says there are no conflicts.

It;s driving me crazy (ier).

If it's the system on your rig page, try updating your 4-in-1 drivers. What caused it to start? You said it worked fine before, but what did you change or install right before it started?

I WAS able to get it to work pretty well with some new drivers from Iomega. But sometimes it still freezes. AND if I try to make Norton Rescue disks the data gets copied TO the zip disk but when I try to test the rescue disk by rebooting, it says it cannot WRITE to the zip disk. :disgust:

Please explain what the 4-in-1 drivers are! I don;t understand that.

Originally installed Win98 and the zip worked fine; tried to install a Wingman game pad and it crashed. That's why I ended up formatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows 98. I don;t undrestand what would make it screw up since the hard drive was reformatted.

Thanks.
