Internal Memory Card Reader not letting system boot

I bought an internal memory card reader that uses the 9-pin front USB mobo connector.
Plugged it into Front Panel USB connector, booted up, worked fine. The next day, the system doesn't boot (it doesn't do a ram check). I check all the bios settings, nothing seems to be the problem (boot order, not booting from removeable drives, etc). Any ideas?

Ok, its supposed to be plug and play. if i boot it up with it plugged in, it stops as usual. if i then unplug it, it does a memory check and boots. If i plug it in after windows is running, windows said it didn't install properly...i'm wondering if the thing is dead...

You will find several threads about front usb and motherboard headers.

One possibility is that if the Card Reader has 9 wires, the extra wire (snip wire) can cause a variety of problems (depends on system). This worked on my son's system.

The other problems involve USB drivers and OS patches, sometimes a simple remove and redetect usb.

Search here and google for front panel usb for several more ideas.
