Got it today and the darn thing is silver, I was hoping for beige to match my case.. Oh well, at that price I guess it will suffice.. It's going into 3.5" bay tomorrow.

I tried them first on Win98SE, after downloading the IC Card Reader Driver v1.7 from the tw website. Installation seemed to work fine, and even had cool icons in My Computer for each of the drives, but nothing works. No green light when card is inserted, and drives are not accessable. I thought maybe I had wrong drivers, so tried on WinXP, which doesn't need drivers. Again, it found the new hardware, and installed the drives (but no cool ICONS so you know which drive is for which media), but still doesn't read the card. I can put my Belkin card reader on the same computers, and it reads the same card fine. I can't believe both readers are bad, but what else could it be? The USA support site only deals in motherboards, and you can't write them without filling out the form with all the motherboard info. Can someone help? Thanks.

Install it and wait til XP recognizes it. Then run Windows update and see if MS has newer drivers for it. Just a thought, but worth a try

The access light stays on all the time whenever a card is inserted.

The light doesn't actually stay on all the time. The one I got only stays on when it is reading the card.

If you want to make the installation much easier, get a USB card. Even though I have 6 usb ports, the usb card we got free after rebate at staples has 4 ports, BUT it gives you an internal one also, great for this or even a small LCD display that uses USB

Has anyone had experience with this reader freezing your computer with Win98? I got one for work, but when my coworker installed the drivers and plugged the thing in, it kept freezing her computer (which is also the server -- we're a very small office). Any ideas?

got mine today, installed it in my dell 4550. I took some pictures if anyone wants to see. It is silver, matches the button and dell badge. Had to hook it up "ghetto", luckily the case doen't shut too tight. They sent me a PINK pen! Gift for the GF, looks like. Also tends to freeze up XP, but reads smartmedia fine. CF, not so good. I am still happy for the price.

Just got mine in and want to put it in the 3.5" bay for internal use. However, I want to attach it to the usb header on the MB. Can I cut off the USB connector from the reader and attach a 5 pin connector which will go directly onto the usb header on the MB? Anyone try this? thanx in advance....

Look for a USB bracket like this. I bet most of us have unused USB brackets lying around... Unscrew one of the ports off the bracket and voila.

Damn, now up to $15 with shipping! I really wanted one too :( Still might grab one today, but it kinda sours the deal when a price is rasied, even a little bit. I've already got a compact flash reader, was just wanting this to clean up my desk a bit with an internal. Might look into the MediaXP for my abit board, if I remember right it has a compact flash reader and more.

yep...I had one of those usb brackets lying around and used it instead of chopping the reader up. Worked like a charm!!! Be sure to download the driver from the biostar usa site rather than the taiwain website. Run the setup and driver before hooking up to your usb port or header. Good buy and nice deal...thanx all!!! biostar usa

Wohoo got mine today. I also received a purple biostar pen. I have the reader installed internally and works fine under Linux and WinXP. If you need instructions to install the reader under Linux PM me.
The reader is actually much smaller than shown in the description. Picture of the reader installed BioStar_Reader
