I don't know HOW Newegg does what it does, but I ordered one of these less then 24 hours ago, and I expect delivery tomorrow. That's from California to Kentucky, all for $11.00!!! I am virtually speechless.

I got mine, works like a charm. Only I got a red pen instead of a yellow one... not like that matters anyway =/

Excellent point, thanks for the info. Is this how you got to Platinum?

Hahaha. At first I thought your sarcasm was a bit unnecessary but the more I think about it the more I love it. I can just imagine Tung going to every single thread in HotDeals and replying with "I don't need this! Thanks anyway!".

I litterally just got mine, and it looks much slicker in real life than in the pictures. It is indeed silver.

It looks like it's exactly the same, inside and out, as the ECS reader. Inside, the Biostar has a chipset that says UCRxxxx, which is what the ECS call their model (UCR61S2B). The Biostar drivers show Win98SE, WinME, Win2K; the ECS show Win98, WinME, Win2K, and WinXP and they're all in one set of files (not separate OS folders).

Opening the silver plastic case, it's very well made. With the Biostar, the single USB cable has a cable retention bulge at the case wall, then connects to a 4-pin header on the circuit board. There is a second, identical header elsewhere (whatever that's for), that is perpendicular to the circuit board, whereas the first is parallel. There is also a standard 9-pin USB header connector (2x5 with the one pin missing), so you can see how easy it would be to make this a full internal.

I'm using my old MSI K7T266 Pro2 RU board, with has the bazillion USB ports, some of which are in the back, some run to the front for a little front-panel box. Anyway, easy enough to use int/ext if you get the right cable. Here are the drivers for both Biostar and ECS:

Biostar Card Reader (6-in-1 Media Card Reader)
http://www.biostar.com.tw/support/driver/index.php3
Driver for Win98SE/ME/2K (04/28/2003, v2.0.410.1)
http://209.240.144.85/support/driver/iccard/iccard.exe

About the same as the ECS Card Reader (UCR61S2B or UCR61S3B)
Driver for Win98/ME/2K/XP (12/14/2002, v1.7b)

I just got 2 of these today...one for my Dad for fathers day, so he doesn't have to use his digi cam on batteries to download to his computer. Neither one works. I tried them first on Win98SE, after downloading the IC Card Reader Driver v1.7 from the tw website. Installation seemed to work fine, and even had cool icons in My Computer for each of the drives, but nothing works. No green light when card is inserted, and drives are not accessable. I thought maybe I had wrong drivers, so tried on WinXP, which doesn't need drivers. Again, it found the new hardware, and installed the drives (but no cool ICONS so you know which drive is for which media), but still doesn't read the card. I can put my Belkin card reader on the same computers, and it reads the same card fine. I can't believe both readers are bad, but what else could it be? The USA support site only deals in motherboards, and you can't write them without filling out the form with all the motherboard info. Can someone help? Thanks.

Not only is it out of stock, they've change the pricing structure. It is now $6 plus $6 shipping. That totals $12 -- up a buck even though their the price went down! :)
