I have one of these motherboard cables that plug into the USB header on my motherboard. I plan to put it inside my case and use the drive internally that way.

I think the USB power is enough to read the modules. I just got one too.

The power comes from USB port

Can anyone tell me what color is the faceplate. On the picture it looks silver.. Anyone?

That actually kind of worries me also, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. Reviews so far so good, lets hope it stays that way.

Bought this unit last week for $9 from newegg with free shipping. As soon as I plug it in, it gives me a Blue Screen of Death. Will have to try it on another computer to see if it does the same thing.

doesn newegg have the usb2 version for like $25? maybe something worth investing into since motherboards nowadays come with usb2.0 as default.

A geek's review on the pen

This is perhaps the best product ever. It booted up first time I clicked the button, and although there is no operating system, it performed flawlessly. Also, even with no power supply, it still shines a pleasant, vibrant yellow. The ink is blue (I was concerned w/ the color and what it signifies w/ Windows at first, but I guess this is an open-user prodect)and works better than any Windows system ever. I guess that isn't saying much, though. I have bought several Biostar motherboards, and although buying their components is gratifying, getting a complete product really lets Bistar shine. The only issue I'm having is I can't figure out how to overclock it. The manual is kinda weak, too, but it is a Biostar product. Operating temp at idle and at full load is AMBIENT!! Without water cooling! Oh yeah, my wife digs it too. I can't make a true benchmark score with it, but it's as fast as its user(sandra won't work here). All-in-all, I can say I''m really happy with it. Thank you Newegg for selling the bestest stuff!

I got mine today as well.

I downloaded the IC Card Reader drivers from Biostar's web site for Windows 2000, but it seems they aren't needed.

I unscrewed one of the cables from this plate that I got and installed the drive internally on my ASUS motherboard header. It works fine and shows up as 4 removeable drives. That's a bit annoying that they show up whether or not you have a card in the slot or not, but I can live with it.

The access light stays on all the time whenever a card is inserted. There's no spring eject mechanism and the cards just slide in and out (except for CF which has a push eject button). You can have all four slots occupied at once and copy files directly from one to another. I tried all four card slots and they all work fine.

So far so good.

i just got this thing from new egg. It's Silver, and plastic... at first i thought i loks like metal but it's now. Also the USB cable is attached... so if it end up too short, you will need to buy an extenstion for it. However, at a price of 12 dollar with free pen, what more can you ask =)
