just installed the demo version of nero 6 to see if its any better than the current 5.xxx that i had recently...the gui looks nicer...but one thing that bothers me is that whenever i try to open the File menu in Nero Burning Rom, an internal error occurs...and it closed. any solutions to this problem?

SOLUTION:
You need to download tweakui and go to the "Common Dialogues" section and make sure that "Remember previously used filenames" has a check next to it. If it doesn't then enable it and that should fix the problem with Nero crashing when you try to open the file menu.

thanx to Arkayz

Nero 6 does the same on my machine ... 6.0.0.9 and 6.0.0.11 ... what drive are you using? I'm using a LG 48x24x48 ... GCE-8481B with 1.05 firmware. That's the only thing that stayed the same when I upgraded my computer a while ago. I was getting the error before and I am still getting it.

I originally had 6.0.0.9, wasn't getting the error at first.

Suddenly started getting it one day, uninstalled 6.0.0.9 and installed 6.0.1.1. Still does it. I have yet to figure it out and in the mean time have re-installed 5.5!

I don't know the reason why it crashes but the fix is simple.

You need to download tweakui and go to the "Common Dialogues" section and make sure that "Remember previously used filenames" has a check next to it. If it doesn't then enable it and that should fix the problem with Nero crashing when you try to open the file menu.

I only found this thread because I get the same error, but in a different place. It happens when I try to make a regular data cd and try to add specific files. Now I don't know exactly what it is about those files. But say I try to put that file in the compilation within a folder. If I can't see the file (i.e. I'm not looking in the folder it is in, in the compilation window not the file browser window) then Nero won't crash. As soon as I go into that folder to show what files is in it Nero immediately crashes with the internal error. I have NO idea what it is about those files or folders that causes it to crash. They don't have extra long file names or weird filenames or anything, there is no rhyme or reason to why it would crash, and the TweakUI fix above doesn't work for this problem, so I keep searching.

Anyway the file crash should be fixed by the above fix using TweakUI, hope that helps.
