Wow, that kind of struck me, seeing Meg in a burka. Just hits home more I guess seeing that here in this country, even if only for a TV show.

No, no pics. If you watched it, you saw it anyway. :p

A burka? Sure, seen it plenty. Never seen someone wearing regular Westerner clothes one minute, then a burka the next. Seeing the person first, then seeing the transformation, just makes it look even worse than it already is.

Please tell me that you don't have a problem with a person wearing something.... whatever it may be.

Please tell me that, OP.

Otherwise, you are a tool.

The ****** was funny.

I don't have a problem with the fact that they did it. I have a problem with the fact that there are people who make women wear these things elsewhere in the world. That was the point that they were conveying in the show. I appreciate that they are making that statement, by having someone wear a burka right there in the studio. I'm just saying that it makes the point that much more potent, of how oppressive the burkas are.

Yeah I think the Burqa for most afghanis is oppressive, because that is the purpose it is used. I'm sure there are a few women who like it, but by far its obvious what the role is.

And I hope Hijabs don't bother you, because many women wear those in the good ol USA ;)

Had to look that one up. :)
I've seen those that do not cover the women's face, only their head. That I don't mind any more than I mind ties on businesspeople. It's just some piece of fabric that your culture thinks you need to wear for some reason or another, whether it be for religious or societal reasons.

Even down here in "the south" (NC) we see that. There's a woman that works at the local Sam's Club who wears one all the time.
