I dont know whay it does it or what im doing to get it to boot properly either!

just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or knows any cures

the machine spec is
atreng atc 6220 m/b
384meg sdram
40gb western digital h/d
cdrom
matrox g400
modem
soundcard
zip drive internal.

cheers in advance for any help :)

Do the usual. Double check cables are in correctly, jumpers are where the need to be, BIOS recognizes drive properly, and that you then triple check what you just double checked.

Hope it works out for your m8.

The drive is probably slow giving a "drive ready" indication. In CMOS there might be a setting for drive ready delay or something similar. If not try disabling "Quick Boot" to give it some more time.

cheers for the suggestions but i would appear to have solved it a different way; i swapped out the ide cables and all seems well no.

dont know why that would make a difference tho
