I own an Asus P4P800 E Deluxe Mobo and an Atech Flash 11 in one Flash Card Reader

Memory Card Reader
Mobo

The problem I'm having is the card reader is only detected about 30% of the time on boot up.
I originally had the card reader setup as an internal and plugged into the mobo on the USB 7 header. I then tried the USB 8 header same problem.

My only solution so far was to attach the 2 Port USB bridge to the USB 7&8 header and run the cable out of the box and into one of the usb ports. When it's not detected I unplug the card reader and replug it in. Needless to say thats a pain in the ass.

So anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks,
Paratus

I had problems with a 6 in one reader recognition...gave it away...now i use separate readers...
Another posibility...bad cable & or connector(s)... (threw that one away)

I thought of the bad cable as well. So I've used both the header cable and the standard usb cable and still no luck. I've also used both the USB 7&8 ports but those are on the same pinout so maybe I'll use the straight USB cable and plug into one of the other USB ports.

Well when the card reader is not detected I get an unknown USB device in device manager. I hope someone has seen this before.

I have almost the same problem .. my reader just won't get detected until I switch the computer off, plug the reader into another header and then it works.

Could it be that improper removal of the reader, (easy to do with some multi-readers), has corupted your usb/1394 drivers?

I'll reinstall the USB drivers that came with the mobo unless someone knows where to get newer ones for an Asus P4P800E (Intel 865 PE board) The Asus website doesn't have anything newer.
