Interim processor for my 780i?

I decided that since the release date for the Q9450s was March15th, I should order all my other parts before then, so I can get what I want without it being out of stock...

Unfortunately, i'm not seeing anything hinting that they actually dropped on the 15th and I'm also seeing a couple sites now saying they're dropping late april, so I need a processor to run while I wait.

I want to install Vista x64, so I need a 64 bit processor that's cheap. I see the Celeron 420 is 64 bit, socket 775 and cheap, is that an appropriate processor to chill with while I wait? Can anyone suggest anything ~$50 that I could just throw in a drawer when the q9450 actually does ship? Nvidia doesn't actually list the Conroe-L as compatible with 780i...

HEre's the CPU chart from Nvidia. I'm not familiar enough with the codenames, so it's hurting my head. link

I have a EVGA 780i, 8 gigs of ram... not sure what else is relevant.

Thanks for the help!

It should work. Probably the only reason why it wasn't listed in NVIDIA's page is because they didn't list the low-end parts. Notice, Allendales were not on the list, too. I think they figured if you're willing to spend $250+ for a mobo and who knows how much for a couple or more graphics cards, you're not gonna pair it with a $40 CPU.

I would hold out. It looks like the xeon counterpart to that CPU is already here, you could pick of them up. With that in mind it should not be to long before the mainstream chips hit.

Anyhow, I also agree that the celeron will work fine.
