Interference from Sata cables?

AAA

I will be ordering a new HD this week, but I am not sure between an IDE or SATA drive. I heard the cables of the SATA drives can pick-up interference from other electrical devices, which can cause data corruption. Is this true?

Also, will I get a increase in performance if I go SATA?

Spec.
Athlon XP 2800+
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
1 GB Corsair ValueSelect - dual channel DDR
ATI 9200 SE 128 MB
Antec Sonata case

I am running dual raptors in two seperate computers and I have never had a problem with data corruption. You board supports SATA already and the price of IDE and SATA are so close I would think that even if there was no performance increase it would be worth getting SATA just for the smaller cables. As for true performace increase (correct me if im wrong) I dont think you will notice any real difference from a regular IDE drive, unless you spring for the WD Raptor. Since the raptor isnt available in IDE, that is the only real performace reason to go SATA.

Just my little bit of input,
Mike
