Interesting, Windows XP Media Center Edition allows Remote users to connect.

it cannot join a domain (AFAIK) but it does allow for remote users to connect the only two real significant differences between XP Home and XP Pro.

Home doesn't come with IIS does it? To some that's an important difference. Does MCE come with IIS?

IIS is available on MCE2005. MCE 2004 lets you join a domain, so if you're prejoined when you upgrade, you still have domain functionality :)

It can join a domain. Either during installation, or through the use of this hack at any time.

Note: most extender devices (aside from the new Linksys MCE Extender mentioned) will no longer function however, as they are Fast User Switching dependent.

MCE is basically pro...it is like that because they want to allow you to run a media server off it.

Read ActuaryTim's post again.

As I've said many times, the only difference between Pro and MCE 2005 is the domain functionality (which is there, just breaks extenders) and no credman. That's it. MCE has IIS, EFS, Remote Desktop, normal NTFS and Share permissions, everything else that pro has.
