Interesting take on friendship

At a party tonight and speaking to some friends I haven't seen i a long time. Somebody asked "so you guys have known each other for a while?"

Yeah - about 10 years, but I haven't seen him in about 5 years. He's still a friend though and if he needed anything he could call me.

I was thinking - what would you do for a friend? I'd do just about anything (driven in the rain to pick them up, posted bail, lied to their wife, etc)

Then started thinking about "who would you give a kidney to outside of family?"

For me there is one "best" friend who I would give a kidney to without thinking. Mainly because I'd rather live with one kidney than live without him. So maybe friendship can really be defined by what you would do for them? I knew with the ex that taking a bullet for her wouldn't even be a decision, but an automatic reaction. Similar to bud saying "man, I need a kidney"......."gotcha, when do we operate?"

So who would you give a kidney to without thought?

i can name 5 people who i woudl do that for, 7 if you count family members

Good deal. Family is different though. That's kinda a no brainer as well.

Probably anonymously. I mean, you can live with one kidney, you can save an entire life... Seems pretty cruel not to.
