http://kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ChangeLog-2.6.4

"[PATCH] Intel x86-64 support merge

This has all the x86-64 specific changes for Intel Prescott/Nocona
support.

It requires a few minor changes outside arch/x86_64, which I am sending
separately.

This patch is needed to boot an 64bit kernel on a 64-bit capable
Prescott machine.
....."

prescott x86-64 support ?
interesting

edit:
they also mention certain prescott optimizations to the kernel and this:
"[PATCH] Enable Intel AGP on x86-64

Enable the Intel AGP driver for x86-64 too.
..."

cpu support is looking good in the 2.6.x kernel

A more interesting thing is the number of transistors unaccounted for in the Prescott... and the pictures of the die that have a lot of identical looking parts... (can you say dual core? some people are)

yeah but it's been "speculated" and many thought it was "disabled" this shows that we just might be able to run 64-bit apps on current prescotts

or atleast that's how it is looking

very interesting
