Whats interesting about this is it gives all 4 of Maines votes to Obama. Yet Maine is one of two states (don't remember the other) that actually splits its electoral votes according to congressional districts. This explains why McCain-Palin have been campaigning in Maine, thinking that the one district they may win may decide the election.
If you look at the map, it IS highly possible to end up this way, don't you think?

Not anymore, no. McCain would have to win every single battleground state. Chuck Todd ran a few scenarios where this was possible a month or so ago. 269-269 gives OH, FL and VA to McCain. Not looking likely now with Obama up almost 10pts there.

Fivethirtyeight.com rates the chances of an electoral college tie at 0.3%. Not really highly possible, no.

if the undecideds break for Obama, they'll probably do so nationally. if Obama wins any two of the east coast battlegrounds (VA, NC, FL) it probably indicates that he'll be sweeping the mid-west and mountain BG states.

Not in the news I watched. CNN says polls released today show Obama making gains in swing states.

I'll mark this post for election day. While McCain still has a month to turn this around, only 1 candidate in modern history has come back to win after being down this much with a month to go. Not impossible, but pretty unlikely. Certainly no reason to make an authoritative statement like that.
