Interesting salary comparison for Transformers

Transformers cast list

My wife likes Shia LeBeouf in the movie and so we started going through the IMDB listings. For some reason, a couple of the Trivia pages for the cast members have their salary they made for Transformers. I'm sure it doesn't include some things but it was interesting.

Shia made $500k off of Transformers. Kind of low for a lead actor in a blockbuster but he's also a newcomer for the most part despite being a Disney kid.

Meanwhile, Tyrese (Left Cheek! Left Cheek! Left Cheek!) made <pinky finger> $8 million for Transformers! Whoa! That's a lot for a role that wasn't even a lead.

I wonder how much Jon Voight, Peter Cullen, and others made now.

I forgot he (Tyrese) was even in the movie. $500k is a lot of money to me, but proportionally speaking it sounds like LeBeouf got ripped off. It isn't his first starring role in a successful film. Maybe he got $500k and a percentage of the movie's gross earnings?

Wow. Perhaps it is because I don't know who Tyrese is so I don't care that he was in the movie, but I think they could have replaced him with a nobody and it wouldn't have made a difference.

I hope he did take a percentage too

Is it possible that Shia maybe gets some sort of cut of profits in leu of straight salary?

If not...that kid needs to seriously find a better manager.

Tyrese was the black soldier <Sgt. rank IIRC> in Transformers. He also was in Fast & Furious 2 and he was the lead in the movie "In Too Deep" <about a felon wants to go straight but bad guy kidnap his son...blah blah blah>.

Maybe his manager and him are banking of fat sequel paychecks? Kind of like the kids in Harry Potter, I don't think they made anything for the first film, but now are cashing in.

Edit:
The actor only made $250,000 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer?s Stone, $3 million for Chamber of Secrets, $11 million for Goblet of Fire, and $14 million for the upcoming Order of the Phoenix.

And it's a huge boost to his career I'm sure.

I dunno. Being the main child character in a recurring movie series means you run a severe risk of being typecast.

Of course, I wouldn't mind being typecast for $250k + $3 mill + $11 mil + $14 mil.

I am not surprised Shia got $500k (it is after all his big break and will get him more roles). What I am surprised is Tyrese's salary. Unbelievable.

I was referring to LeBeouf.

I don't know about the dork who plays Harry Potter, but I bet the chick who plays the girl genie or whatever they are will have some success. 😛

Why does Morgan Freeman get involved in the worst bombers in Hollywood? He's too good of an actor.

From the IMDB trivia page:

For the scene where Sam is clinging to a statue at the top of a building, there was no safety harness and so Shia LaBeouf's terror was real.

LOL....I would have been asking for more money. 😀

why put in a safety harness? the kid only costs 500k. why bother, we can get another kid just as cheap

Haha, me too. I bet Jazz got paid the least. 😛

The actors in Harry Potter are a special case though. Their characters make the movie, and people come to see it specifically to see those actors. If in the next Harry Potter they replace Hermione with some new girl all of their fans would be outraged.

I doubt anyone came to see Transformers specifically to see Shia LeBeouf, nor will the go to the sequel specifically to see him. It's mostly about the nostalgia and sepcial effects. They could replace him with someone else and I doubt it'll have any effect on ticket sales.

I thought the movie was "Waist Deep."

I watched the commentary last night and I thought Michael Bay said there was a safety harness... but he was scared anyway. He almost backed out and made them use special effects to get that shot, but Bay talked him into growing a set of balls and supposedly LaBeouf didn't think it was that big a deal once they started shooting...

On a related note, Michael Bay is about as cocky as they come.
