yes, the first time you subtract 5 from 25, the answer is 20. the second time you subtract 5 from 25, the answer is also 20. and so on.

that is incorrect. If you see the reading of the weighing balance once then that means you have weighed it once. Try once more, this is one of the harder riddles.

No, what I meant is divide into 2, so each side of the balance will have 5 coins.
 
I assume you mean electronic scale, not a balance. If so, remove a different number of coins from each bag and weigh the coins (or the bags after the coins are removed). You can determine which bag has the fake coins from the last digit of the weight.

EDIT: I take it back, I guess they can be called balances.
